Just in time for a big Pittsburgh sports weekend… Pittsburgh’s own Kellee Maize has just put out a new video for her song City of Champions. She brings an incredible energy to this city. Her video has some amazing Pittsburgh shots too… filmed all over town… this is a great salute to the city.

The 459pm relationship with Kellee Maize is an odd one. If you’ve been reading for a while, you probably know that. I wouldn’t call myself a fan because it’s not really my style, but I’m always interested in seeing what she’s up to. What would you call that? Am I a Kellee Maize fan? I don’t know. Shout out to Kellee Maize.

Up top is a Pittsburgh cypher including artists Jasiri X, Boaz, Kellee Maize, S. Money, Cynik Lethal, DJ Huggy. It’s interesting to see the pretty little blonde girl among a bunch of dudes smoking black & milds, wearing sunglasses inside, and mean mugging the shit out of the camera.

Wow. just wow. UMF Brasil

Here’s the official music video for Evil Boy by Die Antwoord. These guys have totally hit it big time and I’m pretty stoked about it. Here’s some background on the video, taken from the comments on Boing Boing…

So, the story behind this video and song (or part of the story — there’s so much going on!) is that this kid was being coerced into a form of ritual circumcision by his community. It’s culturally mandatory within his ethnic group, so much so that if you are a young man and you do not participate, you are completely ostracized. It’s hardcore.

The thinking, and this is communicated pretty bluntly to the young men, is that if you don’t participate, you’re gay. You’re effeminate. You’re not a real man. You never mature from being a boy to being a man.

The kid is hetero. And he struggled with all of this in real life: with what it meant for his personal and cultural identity. And he came to a point where he was like, you know what? Fuck you all. The fact that I won’t consent to having my penis sliced with an unsterilized knife, out in the bush, and risk infection or worse– that doesn’t mean “I’m gay,” as you say. If that’s what being a man is, fuck it, I don’t want to be a man. I’ll be an “evil boy for life.” But, yeah, I am a real man, even if I don’t participate in this tradition which I now reject, at the risk of being totally ostracized from my community.

You might have chosen different lyrics, but dude, it’s not our story or our culture or our world experience at all.

Die Antword’s album $O$ has been on the horizon for some time now, but is set to land on the 11th October 2010.

Mount Kimbie’s Crooks and Lovers album is out this week. Far from being a straight up dubstep album, it’s got quite a varied sound: dub, electronica, guitar passages, ambiance and experimental. Well worth delving into. Video directed by Tyrone Lebon.

The festival is best known for its contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theater, circus, cabaret and many other arts. For 2005, the enclosed area of the festival was over 900 acres (3.6 km²), had over 385 live performances and was attended by around 150,000 people. In 2007, over 700 acts played on over 80 stages and the capacity expanded by 20,000 to 177,000.

In the meantime though, B.O.B has dropped the visuals to his latest single “Magic” featuring Rivers Cuomo. This is actually a really good song and it is slowly following its predecessors “Nothin’ on You” and “Airplanes” up the billboard charts in the States. A #1 Album and two #1 singles…
